It may still seem that summer is with us but many hotels, restaurants and catering companies are already planning for the significantly increased demand during the Christmas and New Years. This is a time when many companies choose to buy new banquet chairs and banquet furniture that make significant investments on the back of this very busy trading time.
When considering banquet chairs, there are several types that most of the guest industry usually thinks. It is the decorative wooden type with gilded painted surface that has become increasingly popular for weddings and is now available as a stackable chair that provides extra convenience with space saving when not in use.
These banquet chairs are often available with removable seat cushions that have the bonus feature to offer the customer different color chairs with only the extra cost to buy extra seat cushions. These chairs were originally made by the classic Thonet Bentwood chair factories in Hungary, Romania or Czechoslovakia and have changed very little in design for many years. The only significant change over the years has been the introduction of the banquet court version.
In recent years, as these countries have one for one of the European Union, the cost of making these highly labor intensive chairs has increased significantly for these factories, giving them no alternative but increasing their prices. This has led to the fact that some UK banquet furniture suppliers are looking for factories in China and Malaysia to produce copies of these chairs, but the quality can be very varied without the traditional manufacturers many years of experience. Often, where the European factories would use steam bending to shape the elegantly curved forms of the banquet seat, Chinese and Malaysian manufacturers use simpler wood joining methods, such as finger joints or even bumpers, methods that are not nearly as strong as the steam bending process that produces the part without affecting the strength or integrity of the wood. Therefore, the purchase of these cheaper chairs can often be a fake economy and can end very early reimbursement of an expensive investment.
The other styles of Banquet chair are made in either tubular steel or tubular aluminum and have a great advantage over the wood styles. Of course, its great strength and long service life at a lower price per unit. The chairs are usually made in 3/4 inch square meters 18 gauge tubular steel that can be finished in any color, and gold is the most popular and silver or black is the next most popular choice. Aluminum chairs are most popular in extruded aluminum tube 1 inch square section. Because it is extruded, it allows the manufacturer to offer a wide range of pipe section designs, either smooth or braided. The other major advantage of both the steel and aluminum chairs over wooden bench chairs is that, because they are machine bent to great accuracy, they can be manufactured to stack very tight and have plastic frame shields to prevent damage from frame to frame connector. New advances in painting technology mean that both steel and aluminum banquet chairs can have a painted surface that imitates the deep red color of mahogany or walnut, oak or many other woods and can even be printed with wood grain effect if the customer likes this. These offer the best space saving option, which is a great advantage if this chair is only used for the hotels feast and needs to be stored afterwards. Aluminum and steel banquet chairs are manufactured in a variety of attractive shapes and patterns as either side chairs or carvers armchairs. Since many of the chair components are standard, it is possible for the manufacturer to offer different chair patterns and even seat width without the need for expensive tools.
For banquet seats sold in the United Kingdom, combustion modified clothing should be used in combination with fabrics that have been treated with fire resistant coating to meet the requirements of British Standard.
For all these chairs, the choice of clothing is very unlimited if the chair is purchased from a UK supplier that has a built in upholstery. Some suppliers import the chairs that are already stuffed from factories in the Far East, but it limits the choice of clothing patterns and colors that they can offer their customers.
Regardless of the style or design of the banquet chair that the hotel owner or restaurateur chooses to choose, the effect on a dining room equipped with these chairs is finished in an attractive gilded color, always very appealing to the diners.
